January 11th 2006

My sincere apologies for not having updated this place sooner, however I've been absolutely swamped with stuff to do over the Christmas period that I quite literally just haven't had the time to make the necessary updates.

Once again, David Blackwell has sent in yet more brilliant cover-art news. The Cutter's release date has been set for the 14th of March on Region 1 in the U.S.A. and it would appear that this is to be the official DVD artwork (please click the cover to enlarge):

I hope everyone had a great festive period and New Year, please bear with me in these slow times, I promise to bring this place up to speed real soon!

December 25th 2005

Just a small update to wish every reader of this website a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. Hope everyone got all the presents they wished for (plenty of Daniel Bernhardt memorabilia I trust... or 'Berchandise' as we like to say!) and I'll be sure to provide a proper update once I get the chance in January.

Best wishes,

Mike

November 23rd 2005

Well, I'm a day early, but since I go away on holiday for a week at some unwholesome hour tomorrow morning, I won't be able to update the site until I come back. But with great pleasure I announce a very happy second birthday to this website! That's right, it's been two whole years since I first put this place online.

Now please let me apologize for the sheer lack of updates over recent time, personal issues took up a lot of my own time and mental-energy... and then throughout the Autumn months I had numerous computer problems that finally were pinned down to a melting motherboard which finally gave up on me in October - which left me devoid of computer and net access for weeks. So I've replaced the entire workings of my computer and all systems are go with this beast of sheer relentless cybernetic power.

Also, in all this time that's passed, I'd been unable to start work on a retro-videogames website with 4 friends of mine that I'd promised to start work on months before. This had become further and further backlogged, so finally when my time freed up, I've been having to do what I can in building that website (especially since it's the first time a website of mine wasn't solely a personal project). So I apologize for not giving this place my priority, but I've been steadily trying to build http://www.consolesandconkers.co.uk and redesign http://www.rvwonline.com and unfortunately it's resulted in never getting round to steady updates here or indeed, the long-promised redesign that sadly fell apart (though I have already fixed our broken counter that managed to wipe a log of over 6000 visitors a number of weeks back).

But I hope to fix that in the forthcoming future! Indeed, to update the rumor mill - on the 14th of September, Marie alerted me to the upcoming animated Threshold Production (Mortal Kombat's film production studios), 'Foodfight', which has apparently cast Daniel for a voice-acting role. To see for yourselves, please check the IMDB page - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0249516/, however, interestingly, there's no mention of him at the Foodfight website, http://www.foodfight.com/. So at the moment, this may just be a rumor, but here's hoping it turns out to be true. Indeed, this is the first time Threshold has officially been working on anything since the Christopher Lambert failure, 'Beowulf', following the studio's apparent-abandonment of Mortal Kombat productions and the silent cancellation of Duke Nukem, so it'll be interesting to see how this film develops and whether it can prove itself against its far more experienced competitors such as Dreamworks and Pixar.

Marie also reports that new photos of Daniel have appeared over at Wire Image http://www.wireimage.com/GalleryListing.asp?navtyp=SRH&logsrch=1&sfld=C&nbc1=1. Hopefully in a week I'll have returned safely, so please bear with me during these slow-times. Keep on visiting and stop by the forum to say hello, we're always eager to greet and chat to more and more Daniel Bernhardt fans.

August 31st 2005

It's the 31st of August, which of course means it's Daniel Bernhardt's birthday! On behalf of myself, Marie and all my readers, I'd like to wish Daniel a very happy 40th birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANIEL!

Now that the pleasant festivities have been announced, I'm happy to say there's other news to report; rumors abound that a new Bloodsport movie is in the works. It is said to star Jean-Claude Van Damme once again, though unfortunately have nothing to do with Daniel's sequels (similar to the approach taken with Van Damme's Universal Soldier: The Return, that had no connections to the original two sequels made without him), but according to the powers-that-be, Daniel is said to be having at least an off-screen input in the movie's production, I can only assume at this point in time that this will mean fight choreography (or at the most stunt-work). Here's hoping Daniel makes an on-screen appearance if or when this movie becomes a reality, at the moment however, all I can say is time will tell. I'm sure we'd all like to see Frank Dux and Alex Cardo go one-on-one and put their skills to the limits in the sacred Kumite tournament!

Once again, I express my good-wishes to Daniel on this most grand of birthdays!

Mike

August 16th 2005

Forum-poster Onizuka (Stephen "Cage" Rikov) has helped shed more light on Children of Wax. Daniel himself plays a Turkish detective named Jurad, whilst Stephen himself plays one of his friends, apparently a high-ranking Turkish gang-member. These updated details have been added to the Children of Wax movie page.

Meanwhile Marie has been in contact with another Children of Wax-star, Shirly Brener, who you'll remember revealed the film's plot a few weeks back. Although she has not found out any further information regarding the movie itself so far, she will be sure to post up on the news page any new information she receives.

Thanks again to Stephen and Marie!

August 9th 2005

The Mystery Science Theater 3000 voting results are in. Future War scored a total of 274 votes (out of 6,676 votes) with a placing on the board at number 39 (out of 137). Not quite the result I'm sure we all hoped for... but I'd still like to thank everyone who saw my requests to vote and participated in trying to get Daniel to the top. Given the issues with obtaining rights for other movies higher on the list, the fact that Future War is a readily available movie and interest in Daniel's work steadily rising, it may yet turn out to be good news and the fact that Future War still managed to score quite highly given the rest of the competition (there was nearly a hundred movies coming in beneath it) there is still some hope for Future War to hit the MST3K DVD's in the future, just don't expect it anytime soon.

For further information, check the MST3K website here.

Thanks again to all the voters, given the short time period between my initial request and the end of the poll, I'm still impressed at the response (though I am aware that there would have been some non-Bernholics voting for the movie regardless). Here's hoping...

August 2nd 2005

Well my review is now up for Nature Unleashed: Tornado. Feel free to post comments in the message-board on your own thoughts regarding the movie... remember you don't need to be a member to just pop in and say hello!

In other news, Marie reports that on out message-board that The Cutter is set for release sometime this Fall, according to director William Tannen over at the IMDB board. There's no further information as to whether this will be a cinematic or direct to DVD/video release - however although I have my doubts as to whether the movie will be released at such an imminent schedule, it's certainly positive news that the movie is in the pipeline for release in the immediate future.

Mike

July 19th 2005

Just a reminder to you all that Nature Unleashed: Tornado was at long last released on DVD today! So be sure to go out and purchase this latest addition in the Bernhardt legacy. My copy was dispatched today, so unfortunately I have to wait around 10 days for my copy to come from America before I can review it... so watch this space.

Mike

July 15th 2005

Over at the Official Mystery Science Theater 3000 site http://www.mst3k.com/ there's a poll on the front-page to vote for your favorite episodes to be added to upcoming DVD sets of the show. Be sure to add your vote for episode 1004, 'Future War' starring the man himself, Daniel Bernhardt. All publicity is good publicity as they say and let's get this classic b-movie (and therefore Daniel too) into households around the world (ok, largely America, but I'm sure plenty of people will import it too). Voting ends July 31st, so be sure to cast your votes before it's too late!

So click on over and get voting for episode 1004 as your number one priority and hopefully Rhino will hear our cry. Incidentally, don't forget that on Tuesday, 'Nature Unleashed: Tornado' is released on DVD across the USA.

That's it for now,

Mike

June 25th 2005

Just a quick reminder to you all that the new Daniel Bernhardt movie, Nature Unleashed: Tornado, premiers in America on the Sci Fi Channel tonight at 9pm EST, 8pm CST and 6pm PST (just so no one gets muddled up and complains that I gave the wrong time-listing!). For further information on listings and your time-zone (Americans only I'm afraid), please visit the Sci Fi Channel schedule page here. So set those VCRs, await with anticipation and post in the message-boards your thoughts once you've seen the movie!

I look forward to what you all have to say, so let's get talking!

Mike

June 20th 2005

Final artwork for the European DVD releases of Nature Unleashed: Tornado have been added to that movie's page, whilst I have also now added the page for Children of Wax. This page includes all the links to the articles regarding this movie, so check back there and the message board for any small updates that may not be of front-page importance.

June 18th 2005

Marie has been snooping and now provided confirmation on Children of Wax! Filming has been completed, and from a report and interview from the following site http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=47787 we can even go so far as confirm the plot.

From the interview with Shirly Brener, here is the established storyline:

"It is a psychological thriller situated in Berlin in current times. There are two gangs - there is a skinhead gang and a Turkish gang, and they are rivals. On the background of this there is a serial killer that is taking Turkish children and murdering them, and putting them in wax. It's a very dark movie, like Silence of The Lambs or like the Bone Collector.

Finally, what reveals itself throughout the movie is that the two gangs are fighting and the Turkish gang thinks that the German gang is the one killing the children. Because they are putting the children's bodies in wax and paining their faces in white, and in Berlin - and especially in East Berlin - the German race does not want to mingle with the darker-skin people. A lot of Nazi remnants from World War II.

So, the gangs start killing each other but it actually turns out that it's not the skinheads, and that there is a sick, crazy serial killer (played by Udo Kier). Armand Assante is playing the Turkish police commissioner. He is actually married to a German woman, so they have a sort of dichotomy of a relationship between a Turkish guy and a German woman while there are fights between the Turkish and the German gang.

There is a very complicated investigation, and finally they find this crazy man.

The story is very suspenseful, because till the end of the story you don't know who is killing the children. You're really suspicious of the German gang. There are a lot of action sequences, drugs, car chases, and then there is the big finale when everybody comes together, and the German gang and the Turkish gang actually end up liking each other."

Sounds very dark and interesting! Providing it simply isn't meaningless hype, the report also describes the movie as such:

"world blockbuster Children of Wax will be completed on June 6th"

A very bold claim there, so could this be pushed for a cinematic worldwide release? At the moment it's too early to say, but I'm sure we'd all love to see Daniel on the big screen once again!

Unfortunately there is no mention at all of Daniel's role in the film, however Stephen "Cage" Rikov has very kindly posted two photos of him on-set with Daniel from the filming of Children of Wax. Simply click the thumbnails for full-size versions of these photos.

My immense thanks to Stephen "Cage" Rikov for this excellent submission.

June 7th 2005

Roving reporter for Danielbernhardt.net, Marie, once again brings us a hot scoop. Apparently, Daniel has a new movie in the works, called 'Children of Wax'. Now, there's unfortunately no further news other than this mere film-title (and as all us Bernholics know, these titles often change like the wind)... so I can't tell you even what genre this movie will be, but if this turns out to be true, then you heard it here first, courtesy of Marie.

To see this for yourself, either head on over to my message-board and view the following thread entitled 'A New Movie Or Just Rumor' or head on over to the IMDB boards for 'The Cutter' and view the three posts within the 'Hmmm' thread, labelled 'He had one but didn't use it..' which is the original source of this information (click those links to be taken directly to the threads in question).

Any further news will appear here and my message board, so check back for updates.

May 6th 2005

My immense thanks once again go to David Blackwell for alerting me to an enormous wealth of photos to emerge from Daniel's upcoming movie with Chuck Norris, 'The Cutter'.

Due to copyright restrictions, I won't duplicate any photos from the original site, but you can all happily view them yourselves by clicking the following link - http://www.timeberly.com/default.asp?pg=thumbs.asp&id=3

There's behind-the-scenes photos and in-movie production stills (including what looks set to be an incredible martial-arts battle between Daniel and Chuck himself!)... and best of all, to ease the curiosity of all those on my message-board, Daniel looks set once again to have a huge starring role, which is fantastic news considering his last 4 DVD releases have all been co-starring roles only!

I can safely say this movie is shaping up very nicely indeed and await its release with immense anticipation!

Mike

May 3rd 2005

My ever-attentive message-board moderator, Marie, once again shares with us all a top scoop. Continuing the topic of the last news update, it's with much anticipation we can report that 'Nature Unleashed: Tornado' will premier on the US version of the Sci Fi Channel on June 25th at 9:00 pm. For further information, click on over to http://www.scifi.com/schedulebot/index.php3... so mark the date in your calendars and set those VCRs... I hope to see some reviews hit the message-board prior to the DVD release on July 19th.

In other news, the remake of the website is a slow and grueling process. What appeared to be a smooth project has run into a number of hurdles that have slowed things down to a mere crawl. So don't hold your breath waiting for the make-over just yet!

Mike

April 23rd 2005

News? Could be! This is not for certain... however, it appears that 'Nature Unleashed: Tornado' could be very likely up for release on July 19th! Click on over to Amazon.com to see for yourself (either click that link directly, or search for yourself under the short title 'Tornado'). Listed as a 2004 movie, this would appear to be what we're looking for, however without further details, I obviously cannot confirm 100% as of yet, especially since it is only listed as 'Tornado'... so those of you who immediately pre-order, please do so with caution. Also note, it appears only to be up for release on Region 1 DVD.

Obviously, as further details unfold, updates will appear here.

March 10th 2005

Just a quick note to let anyone who reads this know that I'm spending some time each night to redesign the site and hopefully drag it out from the amateur-looking pit it currently dwells in.

Here's a sneak-peak of what the site may end up looking like... this is just a rough idea of how the site will end up, but I'm certain it will very closely resemble this since I quite like this design. This'll be a while in the making, so don't expect an overnight change, but hopefully it shouldn't be too long before this place is a little nicer to look at.

Please drop by the message-board to let me know your thoughts and opinions...

Mike

February 23rd 2005

Small update - thanks to Marie (my message-board moderator) for alerting me to this; there's two new photos of Daniel and Lisa up at Wire Image at the premier of Keanu Reeves' new supernatural comic-book thriller 'Constantine'. Simply click the underlined link there and type in 'Daniel Bernhardt' to find the pictures at the front of the photo listings.

In other news, I've made a quick modification to the site. I've added USA/Canadian & European format availability listings to all of Daniel's movies. So next time you're reading one of my reviews and thinking to yourself "I want that movie!" you can now just look at the top of the page to check to see if the movie's available in your area and on what format. For the time-being, it's limited to just the aforementioned Region 1 and 2 locations, since researching into availability elsewhere is an incredibly time-consuming job. However if anyone from around the world is feeling left out and wishes to have their local region represented, then send me an email and I'll endeavor to ensure you have the information you require.

Mike

February 13th 2005

After some snooping around, I managed to find some information regarding the release of Nature Unleashed: Tornado. Although there is still no concrete release date information, according to a press release from the distributors, the movie is set to be released sometime in the year after April. So for the time being, this at least is promising news that we'll see a release sometime this year.

"Science-fiction disaster films make up the bulk of the Nu Image product First Look will roll out in North American stores, starting with Larva in April. Others in the pipeline are MosquitoMan, SnakeMan, SharkMan, Nature Unleashed: Tornado and Nature Unleashed: Volcano."

For further information, see this page http://www.dvdexclusive.com/article.asp?articleID=1848&categoryID=

In the mean-time, keep your eyes fixed to the listings for the Sci Fi Channel (USA version), since Nature Unleashed: Avalanche has already played on there, with others likely to follow. If anyone manages to catch Nature Unleashed: Tornado prior to its DVD release, then please drop me a line.

I'm attempting to gather further information from the movie's developers, so watch this space for any updates!

January 29th 2005

Nothing new on the Bernhardt front... just a few small graphical changes to the site. I'm sure you can notice a few subtle changes to the title bar of the site as well as the graphic on the 'Forum' page, I've also added new international posters to the rosters for Global Effect and Strike Force, as well having utilized more Daniel-themed alternative posters (that were used elsewhere in the world) now for the links to Strike Force and Global Effect just for general Bernhardt-focal value.

Also all news prior to November 24th 2004 (the one year anniversary of this site!) has now been logged in the news archive... simply click on the image link at the foot of the page if you want to read-over the golden days of infancy for this website.

Sorry it wasn't much of an update... but there's nothing to report, so I've taken up my online time with silly things like that!

Mike

January 10th 2005

Just two small quick updates for now - firstly, I've just added a new wallpaper I made to the 'Media' page, so check it out, save it as your desktop and enjoy! Secondly, I found out from one of the producers of Strike Force that the reason for Burt Reynolds' anonymity from the movie's credits was down to the fact that his role was performed largely as a favor to the director Mike Kirton and lead-star William Forsythe. He was paid $25,000 'under the table' and not even is own agent was aware of the role... so this answers any and all questions regarding this matter. Many thanks to the producer who provided me with this information!

Mike

January 2nd 2005

Happy New Year to one and all! Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year! Hopefully your stockings were packed with the hundreds of Daniel Bernhardt DVDs you asked for! Mine certainly weren't... but then again, I own them all, so it'd be a kinda rubbish Christmas if they were. Anyway, it's a new year, with two new hot movies still on the horizon - Nature Unleashed: Tornado which is currently awaiting distribution and The Cutter which has already entered post-production (meaning filming is complete!).

So what's the news? Hmmm... er... no news I'm afraid. Just figured I'd better pop-by and shout out the post-seasons greetings to you all. There's been some additions to The Cutter's cast that I added last week and was too lazy to mention on the news page... but that's it.

So... er... carry on!

Mike

December 19th 2004

Many thanks to David Blackwell for alerting me to the fact that The Cutter's artwork has been released, you can find the poster art over at the film's page under 'Movies', where you can also find the direct link to the movie's plot synopsis on Chuck Norris' website... meanwhile the confirmed cast-list continues to grow daily for this film, so check back regularly to see any updates on that front.

December 13th 2004

A small update this time: Dean Cochran has signed up to star alongside Daniel in 'The Cutter'!

(Dramatic Pause)

Ok, sorry, maybe you're wondering who's Dean Cochran? Well none other than our favorite action star's brother! Well... kinda. For those of you who watched Mortal Kombat: Conquest, you'll remember Dean better as Cassar, the brother of Daniel's character, Siro! The family is reunited on the big-screen at last!

Interestingly, this isn't the first time that Daniel has starred alongside another Mortal Kombat character; in Bloodsport 3 we saw J.J. Perry, who's more famously known in the MK community as Sub Zero from Conquest... and in Perfect Target, Brian Thompson starred, who portrayed Shao Kahn in the Mortal Kombat: Annihilation feature film.

Don't you just love useless trivia?

Mike

November 30th 2004

Cool  news, I've just been made editor of the Daniel Bernhardt page over at www.tvtome.com (the direct link can be found on the 'Links' page as well) so I'm going to try and keep that as up to date as this site here... though I'm going to keep it a little less detailed otherwise there'd be no reason to visit my site anymore! Any errors such as the mix up between the various movies called 'Strike Force' are not my doing, since I'm only in control of what goes on Daniel's individual page (it's the person who originally mixed up their submissions for 'Strike Force' who can hold that responsibility), but if anyone has anything to add or to complain about on Daniel's own section, I'm the man to ask, so come to me!

Also, thanks to all the sites out there who've recently assisted in getting my site noticed on the net by so kindly linking to me. If anyone I've not gotten in touch with wants to be linked here, or is willing to support a link to this site, then as always, the address is above... but chances are you'll be hearing from me soon anyway! Thanks again.

Mike

November 24th 2004

Today is a very special day... today I can celebrate the one year anniversary of www.danielbernhardt.net on the internet! Yes, it's been a whole year since this page took its first nervous steps out onto the information superhighway! I honestly can't believe it's been that long! How time flies when you're spending too much time on the computer!

Unfortunately I have no pressies for you all with which to celebrate... so er... I guess I can do a reflection on the passed year. We've seen the release of 'Strike Force' on DVD, the completion of 'Nature Unleashed: Tornado' (still yet to be released on DVD however), the announcement of 'The Cutter' with Chuck Norris, as well as my endless slaving at the keyboard to review in my casual-style all of Daniel's movies to let you guys know what rocks and what's possibly pants! But regardless, Daniel's kicking more ass by the day and I aim to be here to constantly report to you all the latest news in the world of the one and only DANIEL BERNHARDT!

As always, if you have any feedback, want to submit some reviews of your own, contribute material (to which you'll be credited) and anything else that involves your interaction with the content on the website, then send me an email to the address above (here it is again if you missed it contact@danielbernhardt.net).

So until the next update, keep renting those movies, keep reading my reviews and get chatting in the message-board, I want to hear what the fans have to say!
